19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces
A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his first trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the tournament championship match.
Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging period, winning just a single victory at the major tournaments and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.
Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - resulted in him falling of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time trainer his previous coach.
Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive victory over Frenchman Moutet.
This represents the player's first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface from spring of the previous year.
Success also indicates the Russian has secured 21 titles at twenty-one different competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in honour of my second daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, comprising in Halle in the past months.
Medvedev's retrieving strategy and frequent reactions on court had caused observers to wonder if his capacity to play at the top level was finished.
But the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, supported by an improved serve.
He fought back from a break down in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning 4 of the final five games to go ahead.
The competitors exchanged break points in the following set before Moutet, bidding for his first tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.
He defended 4 early opportunities in a close third set before the Russian broke to fifteen to close out the victory.
Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the net, with the Frenchman failing to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
