Norris Edges Out Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at each of the last five grands prix.
Lando Norris just pipped team-mate and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the closing stages of the practice session at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who seized the points lead from his teammate by just one point after his victory in the Mexican Grand Prix recently, topped the Australian by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren during the running before the sprint shootout scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the sole remaining contender in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind behind Norris, was classified in 17th place as his team followed a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, if briefly, when he spun at corner four early in the session.
Tsunoda slid over the exit kerbs before rotating through the run-off area, and was fortunate to escape with just a slight brush of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, spinning around through the quick descending Mergulho turn before the last turn on to the main straight.
The veteran wrapped up in P19, trailing team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren drivers were significantly quicker of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, over half a second slower than Piastri's best.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
